Qualifications
During an extensive and rigorous post-graduate orthopaedic training programmes in Sheffield and Leicester, Mr Nanavati has worked alongside two past presidents of the British Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS). His fellowship in Leicester focussed on all foot and ankle conditions but also specialised in key-hole surgery, complex deformity reconstruction and diabetic foot problems.
During orthopaedic training, Mr Nanavati was selected to complete a highly demanding postgraduate masters in orthopaedic engineering at Cardiff University over a three-year period. He sat exams on implant technology, biomechanics and surgical applications of engineering principles and passed them all with distinctions. He applies these principles day-to-day when considering the most appropriate implants for his patients.
Awards
He was awarded the British Foot and Ankle Society trauma fellowship in Malawi (Africa), developing skills in highly complex trauma under challenging circumstances and with very limited equipment. This opportunity proved to be a highly rewarding experience both on a professional and personal level.
Mr Nanavati has presented at local, regional and national meetings on multiple occasions and published literature in numerous papers including the British Medical Journal (BMJ). He has also been awarded regional prizes and nominated for national prizes for innovation within the field of orthopaedics
Mr Nanavati is a fully qualified Royal College of Surgeons advanced trauma life support (ATLS) instructor and examines on these national courses regularly. He is married to his wife Anna and they have a young son. In his spare time, he enjoys running, cooking and watching football.
