Injections for foot and ankle

There are times where surgery may not be the most appropriate next step for patients. A lot of patients can’t take the time off work or don’t have symptoms severe enough to warrant surgery. In these cases, injections with locally acting steroids (strong anti-inflammatories) and anaesthetics (numbing medication) may be a better solution to ease with short-term pain relief. It would be expected for most injections to provide pain relief for anything between 6 months – 2 years. Due to the complex nature of the small joints in the foot and ankle, Mr Nanavati uses an X-Ray machine to confirm administration of an injection into the specific joint. These injections can be performed at regular intervals if required.
